Depending on how much you are involved in legal jargon, you might have heard the phrase ‘rolling basis’ banded about; you might even know the meaning of the term or you might not know what it means.
What does recruitment on a “rolling basis” mean?
When recruiting institutions such as law firms say that they recruit on a rolling basis it simply means that they review the applications of the candidates on a first-come-first-serve basis. Under this policy, they will not wait for the deadline to pass before they start reviewing the applications of the participants. This is unlike the non-rolling basis method, where the law firm waits till the deadline has passed before they start reviewing the applications.
Which law firms have rolling deadlines in 2022/23?
For law firms, there can be a host of advantages and disadvantages to employing a rolling basis policy or a non-rolling recruiting policy. We will talk about this in the later part of this article; for now, below is a table of law firms on our website and the policy they employ. Oh, and don’t forget, for all these law firms listed below, Congrapps has 600+ verified successful past applications and interview testimonials, from those who managed to secure Training Contracts with the biggest law firms.

So there we have a list of the firms on our website and the policy they employ. It can be advantageous for a firm to recruit on a rolling basis as it may help them reduce the amount of time they spend screening applications – the idea is once they have gotten the number of candidates they need they don’t need the rest. On the other hand, it can be of great advantage for firms not to recruit on a rolling basis as firms will get the opportunity of having a proper view of all the candidates. Quite a few times, some exceptional candidates might apply late in the game.
One of the reasons we have written this article is to help you know which firms to prioritize; it would be a big shame if after preparing a great application you did not make the cut at the target firm because interviews had already been handed out. Just a quick note: For those firms that we have stated are not available or some other answers it is because we have not been able to find out the exact policy they employ. For these firms, to be on the safe side, we advocate you apply like they employ the process of recruiting on a rolling basis.
